Service Desk Administrator

This position is responsible for the support and maintenance activities of the Company’s core business systems and those that utilize these systems by resolving technical issues and providing exceptional customer service. This position will also be involved with the design and implementation of various business systems.


JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for the support and maintenance activities of the Company’s core business systems and those that utilize these systems by resolving technical issues and providing exceptional customer service. This position will also be involved with the design and implementation of various business systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for performing duties to ensure the reliability and support of the business systems for our customers whether internal or external. This includes and is not limited to the following:

  • Effectively and efficiently respond to and resolve all help desk inquiries.
  • Assist in training Wurth employees to become more independent, effective and efficient when using company issued technology.
  • Assist in the planning, design, documentation, implementation, and support of various systems to include desktop PCs, servers, network equipment, printers/copiers, security, and software applications.
  • Maintain inventory of hardware and maintenance records.
  • Monitor, plan and coordinate the distribution of client/server software and service packs.
  • Make recommendations for new equipment and services to purchase; work with various vendors for procurement.
  • Perform on-site and remote technical support, including emergency on-call support.
  • Assist in the organization and inventory of all hardware and software resources.
  • Assist in computer security and anti-virus updates, etc.
  • Maintain excellent communication with the direct supervisor on all tasks and projects.
  • The application of systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users, to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications.
  • The design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing or modification of computer systems or programs, including prototypes, based on and related to user or system design specifications.
  • Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software and peripheral equipment.
  • Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of hardware, cables, operating systems, or appropriate software.
  • Maintain assorted communications systems (telephone, fax, printers, cell phone, etc.).
  • Perform new employee training on communication and information systems.
  • Assist in the maintenance of back-up and security systems.
  • Develop and provide training materials, procedures and train users in the proper use of hardware and software as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree in Computer Science or MIS, Industry Certification; or combination of education and experience.
  • Strong software, desktop, laptop, and network troubleshooting skills
  • Understanding of Windows Operating System (Server and Client)
  • Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory
  • Understanding of network technologies (LAN, WAN, Wireless, Firewalls, Routers, Switches)
  • Perform duties with minimum supervision, and participate in cross-functional projects as scheduled
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to multitask
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively convey information to end users both on-site and remote.
  • SAP experience is a plus
  • Must occasionally lift, carry, or move up to 50 lbs.
