WÜRTH SERVICE SUPPLY For release 9 a.m. EST January 15, 2008 Sixty Years and Still Going Strong INDIANAPOLIS  January 15, 2008  2008 marks the sixtieth anniversary of Wurth Service Supply. Starting from meager beginnings in 1948 in downtown Indianapolis, Wurth Service Supply has grown to be one of the largest and most widely respected fastener and assembly components distributors in the U.S. During the past several years, Wurth Service Supply has undergone a number of major changes to its facilities, organization and systems. In 2005 major capital investment projects were completed in the national distribution center at corporate headquarters in Indianapolis. These improvements included the installation of new racks providing over 3,000 additional pallet storage locations, installation of a conveyor system to expedite movement of product through the facility and construction of two large carousels directly tied into the warehouse management system. In addition the entire fulfillment process was taken paperless. In late 2005 and into 2006 they established a number of new branches expanding their coverage across the entire continental U.S., Canada and Mexico. Also in 2005 they introduced the Wurth Brand line of MRO products to the market and have experienced doubling of sales year over year during the past 3 years. In 2007 Wurth Service Supply made a substantial capital investment in a new operating system and support equipment. The move to a server based environment will provide improved performance and productivity and establishes much more connectivity with customers and vendors. In early 2008 they are also are moving their Decatur, IL branch to a much larger facility to support the substantial growth that has occurred in that area. Despite a substantial weakening in certain market segments this year, Wurth Service Supply expects to experience the second largest sales and profit year in the history of the company. Looking to FY ’08 they anticipate a minimum growth in sales of 17% with an even more substantial growth in profits. President & C.E.O. John Fuerst stated that “The past several years in the fastener business have been extremely challenging due to the general economy and substantial increases in the cost of our products.” He went on to say, “That despite these pressures we have maintained our focus and see the future as having many opportunities.
