JOB DESCRIPTION

The Accounting Supervisor role is responsible for the oversight of the Cash Application and Accounts Payable team as well as perform selected general ledger activities and assist with month end. The role requires strong attention to details, ability to manage multiple priorities and a desire to train/mentor the team. The position has exposure to all departments of the business and a key member of the Finance team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee daily transactions for the accounting department including all aspects of accounts payable, cash/debt, vendor management, and internal inquiries
  • Management and ownership of Fixed Assets, Cash, Accounts Payable and related account reconciliations and journal entries
  • Enforce accounting policies and procedures consistent with company policies
  • Manage and enforce controls as it relates to Vendors to include new vendors, payments terms, discount maximization; error reduction
  • Assist with month end general ledger activities; analysis, reconciliations, journal entries as assigned
  • Ensure the accuracy of accounting records as assigned
  • Participation in audits, and management of month-end and year end closing processes
  • Work closely with CFO on other projects as assigned
  • Utilize automation and process improvement to develop efficiencies in AP invoice processing collaborating with Purchasing and Receiving teams
  • Supervise, train and mentor AP and Cash Application Staff

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance required; CMA or CPA a plus
  • 5 or more years of accounting related experience
  • Knowledge of SAP software is a plus; large ERP experience required
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to work under tight deadlines
  • Positive attitude, excellent customer service and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, problem solving, teaching and prioritization abilities
  • Excellent communication skills as well as the ability to excel in a team environment
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, rules and regulations
  • Ability to ensure effective and accurate financial management
